Circular Media Player 0.9.7

Happy new year!! πŸ™‚

Circular Media Player got ported from Qt 4.8 to Qt 5.
This fixed the annoying “phonon error” when some tracks could not play. Now all tracks can play.

However, there are some issues now. First of all, the library support is broken for now, i have to rebuild the taglib (taglib is used to read the local mp3 tags when adding files in the library).
Secondly, when i compiled it using the microsoft compiler (msvc), in windows xp the application had no sound/playback. I fixed this by compiling the application with mingw instead of msvc (the release 0.9.7 is built with mingw) but now i just noticed that the application freezes of you try to play an old track (if the url of the mp3 in the history is no longer valid the application just freezes) – in the msvc build this was not a problem.

So i have to find a way to fix the playback in windows xp with the msvc build, or fix the invalid url issue with the mingw build…. or just abandon windows xp support :p … will see.

I just would like to try circular media player. I like the concept of it.
    2 issues:
    1. MFPlat.DLL is missing. (Win7). I do not want to search and install various things to make a program work.
    2. I got source not valid message for almost all title in my first search. According the Status bar I suppose the source is In my country is “disabled” by Can I disable this site from sources. But this is a stupid question?

About the source, the mp3 source is from a service called “vkontakte”, it’s like facebook but for Russia. So you don’t have to worry about the availabilty or not, i use just to get related tracks, and search for track titles , artists etc…
This “source not valid” error is normally appearing if you try to play something from history (online mp3 from vkontakte) but the mp3 is no longer available with this link (i think they change the urls every 1-2 days). So if you use online search and try to play a track, you search for an mp3 source that very moment, so the url is valid 100%.

So, it’s a problem with your machine and the mp3 playback, and quite possible that the dll missing is causing the “source not valid” error..

Here is the MFPlat.DLL i have on my pc, put it in the same folder as the “CircularMediaPlayer.exe” and see if the problem solved.

      If not:
I found 2 possible reasons with a search:
      1) You don’t have the “normal” version of windows 7, but windows 7 ‘N’ or ‘KN’ version.. this means it lacks some media functionality i think. If so, try this
      2) you don’t have Directx. It’s normally installed with games (you can get it here

I know you said you don’t want to install various things, but… well it cannot happen otherwise.
And the problem is that i cannot test the program in many machines, i just test in my pc, my laptop and sent it to a friend or two before a release… So it’s possible that problems might appear in some machines… I hope you understand.

    Thank you!
I tried the DLL. No error message just waiting endlessly.
Yes I have Windows 7 Enterprise N. I’m afraid it is not allowed to download (install) the media feature pack, but I will ask.
    Thank you again
